One of the important smart gadget which is becoming common in our homes is a smart speaker. We may not believe it but hackers are already targeting these smart devices for their benefits. According to a recent report, hackers can easily hack the device using the device name and email id used for streaming music from smart speakers !
The biggest culprit here is our home security habits .
If the following things are followed religiously, hackers can be kept at bay
- Register your speaker with the manufacturing company
- Don’t keep the device always on as it’s in listening mode always, hence switch it off when you are not using it
- Put complex passwords in the device. If you have the habit of forgetting the password, please write it on your diary at home ( not a recommended practice but for this case it’s fine )
- Install every update from the manufacturer on your device
- Give guest access to your device to safeguard against hackers
